Normally, when sketching out ideas for characters, I’d get the basics down really quickly and maybe produce 10 or so basic variations in a day. The drawings shown here are completely different in that they were not directly intended to be character designs for specific projects. They were just scribbles or doodles that I continued to add more and more detail to whilst conducting the telephone interviews. I found that the deep involvement of scribbling in the detail relaxed me but kept me alert at the same time and it really helped get me through the day
